An intimate wedding in Hydra island, Greece!
We’re just back from the magnificent island of Hydra and we really can’t hide our excitement! We designed and planned an intimate wedding there, characterized by a simple yet meaningful concept, as well as by fine art details. Hydra’s color palette and its scenic landscape inspired us to create a stylish wedding in the couple’s favorite destination. Our beloved Melissa and Angelos have been visiting the island for many years and wanted us to design and evolve the whole concept of their wedding around the unique characteristics of the place. We started with a one-of-a-kind sketch depicting the view from the boat when it approaches the port of the island. We used this sketch first at the save-the-date cards, as well as on their wedding website. We drew it only with pencil to emphasize the minimal landscape of the island and then we thoughtfully colored the tile roofs with plain watercolor strokes.
All the decorative details of the wedding followed of course the same style and concept. The wedding ceremony was held right outside the Cathedral of Hydra, with its characteristic clocktower, visible from every part of the town. Gerberas, Lysianthus, chamomille, and eucalyptus in salmon and beige tones, all placed in ceramic flowerpots, made up our floral arrangements.
The wedding dinner took place at one of Hydra’s most exclusive restaurants, Omilos, where all the guests enjoyed a culinary journey to the Mediterranean tastes of fine Greek cuisine, at an idyllic spot by the sea. When you eat at Omilos you really feel like you are on board, on the way to a magical destination. The wedding dinner tablescape was designed with the same concept in mind. Ceramic elements were used for the pots and bouquets, as well as for the table numbers and for the guests’ place cards, which we took care of one by one, since the couple wished for the guest seats to be named. The calligraphy on the ceramics was in white ink, to make it more clear and to match the rest of the furniture.
The rough, breath-taking landscape of Hydra with its unique architecture made the island one of the first places in Greece to become internationally known and popular. Its beauty featured in great motion pictures and the island has long been a favorite destination. We strongly recommend it to couples who love aesthetics for their wedding in Greece.
The town of Hydra, amphitheatrically spread in the lap of the rocky hills, motivates the visitors to discover every corner of it, to walk every narrow street, to learn its history, to feel its aura. If you seek something like that, then Hydra is just the perfect place for you. When you set foot on the island you travel back to another time. There are no cars, no vehicles, only donkeys, carriages and sea taxis. All you have to do is let us take care of you, every step of your wedding. Fine quality food, boutique hotels and traditional guesthouses, fantastic beaches with crystal clear water, the kindness and hospitality of the locals, the romantic stroll at the port and in the narrow streets, all these and much more will make you fall in love at first sight with the island of Hydra.
